On-going pet stories that have touched us!

"PRINCESS"
Owner: Trisha

Princess is a 4 year old calico. When she was just a year old she was spooked by a dog in her apartment. While trying to escape the dog she jumped to the top of a book shelf. Being so scared seemed to throw off her balance and she fell onto a steroe speaker on her jaw.

Seeing that her cats face wasn't in the right shape and her mouth wasn't able to close fully, Trisha called her younger sister Crystal who was attending UMA for her associates degree. Crystal took Princess to the campus the next day and got her checked out. After being put under anesthesia Princess went through a complete oral exam and had x-rays taken. Crystal and her teachers found that her jaw was dislocated and her mandibular bone had punctured through her mouth. Infection had already set in and time was of the essence to save her jaw.

Once her jaw was set she was sent home with medication. Trisha got the infection under control but her jaw never healed properly. Every few months Crystal visits Princess to make sure no further complications arise. While she is a happy and fun loving cat she still can't stand the oral exams!

 Rowley family

Kent and Lisa first found out about The Pets Companion

from their Veterinarian at Androscoggin Animal Hospital. They called right away to get an appointment with Crystal, because yhey had a special situation that required help. Their younger springer spanial Cabo had a severe form of epilepsy. He could never be left alone for fear of cluster seizures. Their older dog Maui is an angel and has no health problems.

At the first meeting Crystal could tell that this was a special family. The dogs were just so happy and well cared for.

Unfortunately Cabo had to be put to sleep on April 15 2013, he was just 10 days shy of his 2 year birthday. This was a huge hit to this loving family.

After a couple months Kent and Lisa decided to open their home to another dog. They brought 9 week old Cayman home on June 10 2013. The active puppy is just what they needed to brighten their lives.

While they will never forget hoim, Cabo's memory lives on in the hearts of everyone who ever met him. The Rowleys are able to give another dog a great life and a warm, loving place to live.

*we will keep adding pictures as Cayman and this family grows!!!*
